Africa Merchant Assurance Company (AMACO) is one of the leading insurance companies in Kenya, licenced to transact General Business by the Insurance Regulatory Authority (IRA) of Kenya. It has a strong network of branches in Nairobi and one of the largest outside Nairobi.

It launched operations in the year 2000 and offers a wide range of products for both home/retail and commercial products like marine insurance, Goods In Transit (GIT), liabilities, fire and perils and contractor all risks. AMACO briefly offered car insurance for Public Service Vehicles (PSV) but that was discontinued and now offers auto insurance for personal vehicles and commercial vehicles.

From the year 2011, AMACO experienced rapid growth in its insurance business, going from annual premiums of KSh 1.8 billions to KSh 3.3 billions in 2015, a record growth of 83%.

It currently holds a market share of 2.95% of the total general business as of the end of December 2015. This was backed by mainly motor private and commercial insurance, engineering insurance and personal accident and liabilities cover.
