Car Insurance Kenya : Political Violence and Terrorism
Posted on 2016-05-18
Comprehensive car insurance protects the insured from losses and costs arising from damage to third party and persons, fire, theft and accidental own damage to the insured car.
What is PVT?
Political Violence and Terrorism (PVT) is an optional extension/benefit that can be added on the basic comprehensive car insurance covers listed above. The basic comprehensive car insurance does NOT cover losses or damages to the insured vehicle arising out of a politically motivated riot, demonstration, protest, strike, coup d'etat, civil war, revolution. A common example of this is members of political parties/groups staging protests which result in damage and loss to public and private property.
The basic comprehensive car insurance also does NOT cover damages and losses to the insured vehicle arising out of a terrorist event.
We strongly recommend the PVT extension be added to the basic comprehensive car insurance to protect against the above events. The PVT extension costs from between 0.25% and 0.5% of the value of the car to be insured
As an example, for a car of value Ksh 500,000 the PVT will cost Ksh 1,250 to 2,500.
A fee of Ksh 1,250 to protect an asset of Ksh 500,000 is a good way to protect your valuable car.
