2017 has surely been a good year especially if you’re a car lover. It has seen new, remodeled and refreshed cars make their way into showrooms with all the brands we know and love fighting to take the crown for 2017’s best automobile.
2017 saw Jaguar launch its first SUV, Mazda’s CX-5 remodeled and so many other companies strive to make a mark.
But here are the top 5 cars for the first half of 2017, cars that will spark even the tiniest hint of jealousy.
Land Rover Discovery
To start off is the all new Land rover Discovery which is a diva in the city and a beast on off road. It comes with the latest generation, high efficient turbo-charged 3.0 liter engine and a 340 horsepower supercharged v6 engine which maximizes power delivery. And not only that, they have also greatly improved on the technology, with this latest land rover encompassing In Control Touch pro which has taken entertainment to the next level. It also has a clean and contemporary design with engaging visual and audio experiences including plug and play using the USB ports.
The exterior has also slightly switched up a bit as you can clearly see in this photo below.

Toyota C-HR
Another car which came out in 2017 and which I bet would excite many Kenyans would be the Toyota-C-HR(C-HR stands for “Coupe High-Rider”). It initially used to be a product of Scion, a company owned by Toyota but the latter has since absorbed in completely.
They have however maintained the trademark features which is low pricing and youthful styling. The starting price for the car is 2 million.

Mazda MX-5 Miata
And for those Kenyans who are looking for a fast and fun sports car to cruise around on in a limited budget, then the 2017 Mazda MX-5 Miata is definitely a car to consider. It consists of a comfortable interior or so do many reviews and a folding roof. It also has a 16-valve 4-cylinder with VVT engine and is a 6-speed Sport automatic transmission with paddle shifters. The doors also open to the top and only accommodates two people making it the perfect fit for the Nairobi bachelor.

Range Evoque Compact
And speaking of convertibles, Range Rover has also dropped their top of the Range Evoque compact SUV, creating a four-seat convertible that’s at home on either sand dunes of Isiolo or the streets of Nairobi. The power-operated roof can drop behind the rear seats in just 18 seconds and reclose in 21 seconds.
The Evoque convertible is equipped with Land Rover’s Terrain Response system, which configures the vehicle for a variety of on- and off-road conditions at the push of a button and also has plus hill start assist and hill descent control. Other features include ambient Interior Lighting which lets you choose from ten different colors and a ‘stealth’ setting and IN Control Touch ProTM Navigation includes a wealth of innovative features such as 3D Maps, all displayed clearly on the 10” Touchscreen16. All this however comes at a price with the machine retailing at not less than 5 million.

Subaru 2017
Subaru impreza has also released a 2017 version, for the first time in the US as they also seek to compete in a highly saturated market. Beside the body which has really changed, they have also added a small boost in power with a revised four-cylinder boxer engine producing 152 horsepower. It’s available with a comprehensive suite of advanced safety electronics, including forward collision alert with automatic braking, reverse automatic braking, lane keep assist, and adaptive cruise control. There is also a rearview camera which is standard on all models and so is 4 wheel drive.

Porsche 718 Boxster
The makers of the all famous Porsche Cayenne have also not been sleeping. They have a new machine out in the name of 718 Boxster which is just a remake of the Porsche Boxter with just slight improvements. Its cabin boasts elegant styling and first-class materials. User-friendly infotainment features are close at hand, and there’s a surprising amount of space for two coupled up with a 350 horsepower, 2.5 litre turbo charged engine.

Mercedes E 300
Last but not least there is Mercedes which never disappoints. And their flagship project for 2017 is the E 300.
